Planning a trip to 30A is exciting, but knowing a few local secrets can elevate your vacation from great to flawless. Here are the essential travel tips you need to know before you arrive.

Getting Here and Getting Around

While you can fly into Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport (ECP) or Destin-Fort Walton Beach Airport (VPS), renting a car is highly recommended for the initial journey and for grocery runs. However, once you arrive and park at your vacation rental, bikes and golf carts are the way to go. Traffic on the two-lane Scenic Highway 30A can be heavy during peak summer months, so pedaling the Timpoochee Trail is often faster and much more scenic.

Many of our luxury rentals at Coral & Cove 30A include complimentary bicycles or offer exclusive partnerships with local golf cart rental companies. Be sure to book your golf cart months in advance, as they sell out entirely during the summer season.

The Parking Situation

In popular hubs like Seaside, Rosemary Beach, and near public beach accesses, parking spots can fill up very quickly by mid-morning. If you plan to drive to the beach or a popular dinner spot, head out early in the day or opt for an early dinner to secure parking. Many visitors prefer taking a golf cart or biking to bypass parking entirely.

Keep in mind that certain communities like Rosemary Beach and Alys Beach enforce strict parking regulations and require passes for street parking. Always check the parking arrangements of your specific destination before leaving the house.

Beach Bonfires

Walton County is one of the few places in Florida that allows permitted bonfires directly on the beach. Booking a professional bonfire service is a magical way to spend an evening. They handle the county permits, set up the fire pit, provide tiki torches, and even bring the s'mores ingredients.

It's the ultimate coastal luxury experience. You can watch the sunset over the Gulf while sitting in comfortable beach chairs, roasting marshmallows with your family, and not having to worry about the messy cleanup afterward.

Stay Informed on Local Events

30A is a vibrant community with a packed events calendar. Depending on when you visit, you might catch the 30A Songwriters Festival, the Seaside Farmers Market, outdoor theater performances by the REP, or wine festivals. Always check local community calendars a few weeks before your trip to see what's happening.
